7 Rules on how to implement change in our lives?
The New Year should bring the out the New You this time around.
Transform your life with these seven rules, to implement a change in your life.
Whenever New Year comes around, we all make vows to be a better version of ourselves. There is no comparison of how human beings have evolved over time, from the day of birth till the day of death, it is a never-ending journey of learning and advancing.
The human brain is naturally trained to have a desire for curiosity. If we as humans were not made to do that, we might still be living in the times of caves and no fire!
Every time we are at the end of each year, we always assure ourselves, we will change for the better. We aim to achieve all the goals we had defined last year for ourselves. However, running in this never-ending race of life, our dreams and ambitions get rusty. Let's pledge to make the year 2021 a whole new chapter of getting unfinished business done!
1. Identify a purpose
Can you start a journey without even knowing the reason why you were travelling? No one does that. Every action you take, every move you make has a purpose. At times we are so indulged in insignificant matters that we forget our primary purpose of life. For a change, you need to define your purpose in life. A purpose in life gives you a direction. It is the same as setting a destination on Google maps while you navigate, but from a broader perspective.
2. Define your vision
Vision is the destination or the result you want to achieve in the long run. It is a foreseen image of what you want to become. If you are aiming for a change in life through achieving goals, it is crucial to identify your vision. Without an image of your future position, you cannot move in the right direction. A vision provides you with impulse energy to work towards the aim in life. You can evaluate your abilities by defining a vision if you are capable of reaching your goal or not. A vision motivates you, compels you to keep the ball rolling in the right direction.
3. Make an action plan to work-it-out
Have you ever laid out a strategy for your life? A life map a life plan?
Before aiming for a goal, you need to design a strategy that will define your approach to reach your ultimate life goal. It is just like when we make strategies to attain our business goals at the workplace. An action plan lets you decide what steps you need to take, when to do it and how to do it? It sorts out most of the ambiguities you may have in your mind and starts to bring clarity.
4. Forget the past and move-on
Are you one of those who talk more about the past than your future? If that is the case, you should consider a different approach from now on. What is done is done, you cannot change your past. But what you can do is look ahead and see how things can be more perfect, with effort and planning. Never look back and be regretful, life has countless opportunities for you to make the best out of it. Start to look into the Power of a Positive Mental Attitude.
5. Start right now
When you plan on doing something, you often say to yourself;
"I'll start next month."
"I'll begin a new routine from next Monday."
Always remember the rule of thumb: Now or Never! We have a momentum going on in our brain whenever we are accepting to something changing. When you put the things on a delay mode, you start losing interest towards it. The earlier, the better. It helps you to maintain the motivation throughout. The leading cause for all the delays we have been making is when we don't start on time. Start a good new habit.
6. Consistency is all you need
Did you expect to become a pro-driver when you drove the car for the first time? or were you promoted to an Associate Director of the company within one month of your career start? Then how can you expect to attain your goal in the first attempt you made?
Giving up too soon on our aims is what you need to drop this year. Promise to push yourself to every limit possible to achieve your ambitions.
7. Enjoy your achievements
Before you expect productive results, rewind back and check if your goals were set realistically or not? Because setting unrealistic goals will only make you disappointed. Once you are assured of the viability of your plans, you can then work on setting milestones to evaluate your progress.
When taking a Macro view of our bigger goals, we often forget to celebrate the seemingly insignificant changes we've been making on the path. Micro accomplishments on the way to the bigger ones must be honoured. They actually boost your morale to move ahead and conquer your success. Every small step is still a step forward on your path.
I hope you find some help in the guidelines above. If you have other ideas, please feel free to share them in the comments section below. We can all learn from each other.
